There are file types, and even groups of filetypes. Application's have enough understanding of what files they can open, but the OS is a little ignorant...
If I use 'Open With' on a text file, and look at other options, currently it's like this (AFTER resizing using the AMAZING ResizeEnable (http://www.digitallis.co.uk/pc/ResizeEnable/) : )
