Program stopped working after importing a movie file to Movie Maker

hello everyone, I have 2012 16.4 Movie Maker installed on my computer (it's a part of the Live Essential programs). My problem is that when I try add a movie, mp4 or avi to the program (wmv files work ok), the window appears that 'it has stopped working'.
